Preparation Guide

What You May Need For Your Notarization

A premium, plain-English checklist to help you arrive prepared, confident, and compliant. Reviewed by Nevada-commissioned professionals.

01 · Essentials

Valid Government-Issued Identification

Every signer must present an original, current, and unexpired government-issued photo ID at the time of the notarization.

  • U.S. or foreign passport (with photo)
  • State-issued driver's license or ID card
  • U.S. military or DOD-issued ID
  • Permanent Resident Card / EAD card
  • Tribal ID with photograph
  • Photocopies, expired IDs, and Social Security cards are not acceptable
02 · Essentials

Unsigned Documents

Do not sign your documents in advance. Notarial law requires the signature to be made in the presence of the notary.

  • Bring complete documents — all blanks filled in advance
  • Leave the signature, initials, and date lines blank
  • Bring all pages, including exhibits and attachments
  • If any page was pre-signed, it may need to be re-executed
03 · Essentials

Witness Requirements

Some documents (wills, deeds, affidavits, healthcare directives) require one or more impartial witnesses in addition to the notary.

  • Witnesses must be 18+ and able to verify identity
  • Witnesses cannot be named or benefit in the document
  • Witnesses must be physically (or virtually for RON) present
  • Confirm witness count with your document recipient in advance
  • We can coordinate witnesses in many cases — request when booking
04 · Essentials

Remote Online Notarization (RON) Requirements

Nevada-commissioned RON allows notarization via secure encrypted video. To complete a RON session you will need:

  • Device with working camera, microphone, and reliable internet
  • Valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID for credential analysis
  • Successful Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA) quiz
  • Quiet, well-lit private space for the recorded session
  • Confirmation that your document recipient accepts Nevada RON
05 · Essentials

All Signers Must Be Present

Every individual whose signature is being notarized must personally appear before the notary — in person or via valid RON.

  • Signers must be physically (or virtually) present
  • Signers must be alert, aware, and signing of their own free will
  • Power of Attorney signers should bring supporting documentation
  • Hospital and bedside visits available for incapacitated mobility cases
06 · Essentials

Pricing is confirmed before dispatch. We accept secure modern payment methods.

  • Credit / debit card via Stripe (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover)

07 · Essentials

Document Preparation

A few minutes of preparation prevents reschedules and ensures every signature is accepted by the receiving party.

  • Confirm the type of notarial act required (acknowledgment, jurat, copy certification)
  • Verify the document is complete — no missing pages or exhibits
  • Check spelling of names exactly as shown on government ID
  • Bring any cover letters or instructions from the receiving party
08 · Essentials

Appointment Readiness

Be ready a few minutes before your scheduled time so the appointment runs smoothly.

  • Have your ID and documents organized and accessible
  • Be in a quiet, private location (especially for RON)
  • Ensure all signers and witnesses are present at start time
  • Allow approximately 15–30 minutes for most signings
  • Contact us immediately if you anticipate a delay
09 · Essentials

Fraud Prevention Awareness

Notaries are an essential safeguard against fraud. We are required by law to decline any signing that raises legitimate concerns.

  • Never sign a document you have not read or do not understand
  • Do not allow third parties to pressure or coach you during signing
  • Report any suspicious requests or unauthorized solicitations
  • Notaries cannot certify documents they suspect are fraudulent
  • Identity, willingness, and awareness are verified at every appointment
